Behind the scenes
Advanced 3D Digitisation & Humanoid Robot Costume Fabrication for Novibet
The humanoid robot costume featured in the Novibet campaign was designed, processed, and built at MACHINESHOP. Our workshop used a fully digital manufacturing pipeline, deployment of high-resolution 3D scanning, CAD/CAM pipelines, and advanced physical styling to engineer a wearable, screen-ready robot suit.
To achieve the sleek look required for a performer to move comfortably on location, the project used all 3D, CAD, and CAM at our disposal.
Advanced 3D Fabrication & Slicing Pipelines
Translating a complex sci-fi concept into a functional, camera-ready costume required integrating modern software pipelines with multi-scale 3D printers:
- Organic Conceptualization & Sculpting: Utilizing Zbrush and Blender to digitally sculpt, ensuring uniform ergonomics over the performer’s baseline anatomy.
- Precision Parameter Assembly: Designing internal coupling matrices, joints, and lock-fasteners using Fusion 360 for clean component assembly and hardware integration.
- High-Volume Core Slicing: Operating a series of Bambu x1 + H2s FDM printing configurations to rapidly construct the high-strength, lightweight main structural components of the suit.
- Macro Close-Up Ready Finishes: Extensive hand-sanding, bonding, and paint-matching to construct a seamless, premium appearance completely optimized for intense lighting environments.
